It is hard to believe it is December already, the year has flown by. I am very pleased to report that we received an excellent ERO report. A brief summary:
“The Creche Trust’s philosophy, vision, goals and systems contribute to positive learning outcomes for all children. High value is placed on Treaty of Waitangi principles and these are reflected in organisation policies and practices. Effective self-review procedures ensure that the organisation remains focused on accountability and improved performance at all levels. The processes used demonstrate a clear understanding by staff of organisational standards and expectations”.
You can read more by asking a teacher to read the report or view it on the ERO website when it is available in January 2015. ERO believes that Creche is very well placed to promote positive learning outcomes for children and we will be revisited by ERO in four years. My thanks to all the teachers who have worked so hard to keep improving the learning experiences and programmes offered for children at Creche. This is certainly a very special place for children to come and learn so much in a spacious, loving, supportive and nurturing environment.
It has been a privilege to have had your child/ren at Creche this year. I would like to wish you all a very happy Christmas and a rewarding 2015. Take care and enjoy time with your family and friends. Travel safely.
Sue Bennett, Director
We welcome Karter and Phoebe, and their whānau to Whekī. We look forward to getting to know you and working together in partnership.
Thank you to all our children and whānau who attended the Christmas Party, we hope you all had an enjoyable time.
From all the teachers in Whekī, we would like to wish everyone a very Merry Christmas and safe and enjoyable holiday, and we will see you in 2015!
What a busy time late November and December has been. We had a wonderful trip to Auckland Zoo, thanks in large part to you, our parents, who were able to come with us.
Our team (children and teachers) were busy putting Christmas presents together for our great 5 December Christmas Party. It is great to hear such positive feedback from some of you, for both the party and the presents.
Some teachers will be taking two weeks break over Christmas. Jenny will be here taking care of those children who will still be attending.
Festive seasons greetings to you all and a very happy New Year.
Recently we went on an excursion to the Auckland Zoo. We chose Auckland because many children do not get the opportunity to visit this Zoo with their whānau and we wanted to offer something special for the end of the year. The tamariki enjoyed exploring the Zoo with their teachers and whānau. The elephant, seals, monkeys and tigers were all a huge hit, along with many of the other animals. Nīkau would like to say a huge thank you to all the parents and extended whānau who joined us on our trip to the Auckland Zoo. This was an amazing day.
Thank you also, to all those who attended the Christmas Party. We have had many positive comments and love hearing your feedback about the Christmas presents. The tamariki have worked hard on these over the last couple of months and we trust that you will enjoy them.
It’s been an enjoyable year and we all look forward to a new year in 2015. As a team here at Nīkau, we would like to wish you all a Merry Christmas. For those of you on holiday and travelling, keep safe.
Another busy month for Maire, time seems to be flying by. In November this year most of the tamariki in Maire visited the berry farm, picking their own strawberries to take home to their whānau.
In December our Maire whānau took a trip to Kelly Tarltons in Auckland and it was amazing. We watched the staff feed the big stingrays and also got to watch them feeding the sharks, which was great. The tamariki seemed to enjoy looking at all the different mammals there were and as always, they loved their ride in the bus.
We would like to say a big ka kite to Te Auha, Jaden and their whānau, who are moving on from Maire. We wish them the very best.
Now that’s it’s almost the end of the year we would like to wish our tamariki and whānau a very mere kirihimete and ngā mihi o te tau hou.
Kia ora te Whānau
What a busy month we have had, preparing for the Christmas Party, practicing our songs and helping your children to create some wonderful gifts for Christmas. We are so proud of our children; they did a fantastic job of singing and signing for our families. Thank you to all who attended and gave wonderful feedback.
Our Zoo trip was a great success with so much support from parents that we had to put a cap on numbers of parents attending. Without your help on the day it wouldn’t be possible to take these trips, so thank you.
We would like to welcome our new children and their families who have transitioned to Kauri over the last month. We look forward to getting to know you all and learn about your interests.
With the weather slowly improving and the sun showing his face occasionally, we will be having a lot more water play for the children, with our pool coming out, sprinklers and hoses going. We would really appreciate your child coming prepared for this with swim suits and towels. We are very careful of sunburn and apply sunscreen several times a day, but a swimsuit will add extra protection. We also appreciate spare clothes being packed for your children. If you have clothes that are getting a bit worn or are a little small now, we could use them as spare Creche clothes.
The teachers at Kauri would like to wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a Happy and safe New Year.

Creche Christmas Party
The weather was kind to us and from the feedback we have received the Christmas Party was enjoyed by all our Creche whānau.
The Noera Kapa Haka Group was wonderful and there were many bright interested children and their whānau all enjoying the performance from where I was sitting. We wish them luck with their competition in 2015.
The food was tasty and plenty of it. Thanks to Rangi and her team for organising and preparing the meal. We catered for around 380 people. I think that is some achievement!!
Thank you all for coming and making it a great evening.
If you have any comments or feedback, please e-mail these through to either:
We will take feedback into account as we plan the 2015 party.
Is Your Child Finishing at Creche?
Please remember that we require 3 weeks written notice to the Creche Office if your child is finishing at Creche or if you are changing your child’s enrolled sessions. Our staffing is prepared in advance and is based on the number of children booked in to attend each day.
Full fees will be charged in lieu of insufficient notice.
Notification can be made either by e-mail to firstname.lastname@example.org or by completing an Absences & Final Date Notification form which is available from your child’s Centre or the Creche Office.
If you are intending for your child to return in 2015 (after finishing at Creche) then a new Enrolment Form must be completed and your child will go back on to our waiting list. Priority is given to children who have previously attended Creche, however we cannot guarantee places.
